Summary: In addition to prominent new features like CAT and Viewport Canvas, 3ds Max 2011 delivers even more modeling, texturing and animation performance enhancements, along with workflow and scene management improvements. Though there are still some things that need work, like better UV mapping tools, 3ds Max 2011 is a major improvement over previous versions.

Target Apps: 3D modeling, 3D/2D painting, special effect, and animation for feature films, broadcast, game development, education and training and scientific visualization

What’s Cool: The best new features in 3ds Max 2011 are the Viewport Canvas 3D/2D paint system and the integration of CAT.

What’s Missing: 3ds Max needs better UV mapping tools and a particle simulation system like Maya’s nCloth and nParticles.

System Requirements:

The 32-bit version of Autodesk 3ds Max 2011 software is supported by:

•Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system (SP2 or higher)
•Microsoft Windows Vista Business operating system (SP2 or higher)
•Microsoft Windows 7 Professional operating system

The 64-bit version of 3ds Max 2011 software is supported by:

•Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 operating system (SP2 or higher)
•Microsoft Windows Vista Business x64 operating system (SP2 or higher)
•Microsoft Windows 7 Professional x64 operating system

3ds Max 2011 32-bit and 64-bit software requires the following supplemental software:

•Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 internet browser or higher
•Mozilla Firefox 2.0 web browser or higher
